Love and Logic Discipline - Books and Teenagers
The words happiness and teenagers rarely a combination that go together. As someone who is currently raising one I found the words happy teenager to be an oxymoron. That all changed with a few discoveries lately. If you’re in need of guidance for your teen or any child that you think is out of control then check out the discipline books of Love and Logic. These have transformed my children quite amazingly. I have noticed quite a few changes over just the last few weeks that have often brought a smile to my face. Where my children used to fight with each other constantly, sometimes hitting one another, this week has been much more peaceful.
My once raging teenager has actually offered to help do the laundry without being asked. We all went to one of our favorite hotels in Looe this weekend for a family get away, and all the children got along for the entire time! My teenagers had even agreed to watch her younger siblings without throwing a temper tantrum. My youngest is all smiles this week and responds to what I ask of him without whining and moaning. My middle girl is not quite as on board yet but she has always needed more attention.
When I’ve gotten really discouraged I watch World’s Strictest Parents on CMT. This has seriously troubled teens being sent to another family’s home for a week. They must learn to follow their rules and deal with the consequences. It’s all about learning to respect and appreciate their real parents. It really touches your heart how much they change after just one week. Some of the kids come in wanting to do their own thing, which includes cussing out the parents they are visiting. By the end of week they are doing chores, saying “yes, ma’am” or “yes, sir”. It is astounding how much of a transformation takes place in such a short time. So for all of you parents of teens out there just know that there is hope.
